Description
The completion of this landmark project provides a well-equipped, modern medical facility for the people of Townsville. The facility comprises new digital operating theatres, perioperative spaces, recovery areas, staff facilities and a new medical imaging department.
 
Located on an existing hospital site the design of the new building and its services required careful consideration to ensure minimal disruption of existing hospital operations whilst this major project was constructed and commissioned.
 
The building’s HVAC systems comprises modern chilled water air handling units and outside air preconditioning units which provide energy efficient temperature and humidity control throughout the conditioned spaces.

To ensure the highest level of occupant safety during a fire the building is provided with a zoned smoke control system which can respond to an alarm in any area of the building and maintain tenable conditions for as long as possible to facilitate the safe evacuation of staff and patients.
