Clayfield College Junior School
Electrical | Mechanical
Client: Clayfield College Architect: Archibett Architecture Value: $3m Completion: 2010 Description This project comprised a new junior school classroom building with ten general purpose classrooms over two levels, as well as space for administration and support staff on a third, lower ground floor level. The spaces were interconnected by open walkways and a lift accessing all the levels. Natural ventilation in the building was maximised to improve indoor conditions and reduce energy usage. The air conditioning systems were variable refrigerant flow (VRF) type with compact external plant in a single location. The extensive natural ventilation and prevailing breezes have resulted in a low utilisation of the air conditioning systems. The building was built over three existing separate lots, which were amalgamated prior to construction and a new site power supply provided.
