Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Primary School
Electrical | Mechanical | Lift
Client: Catholic Education Archdiocese of Brisbane Architect: Gray Puksand Value: $3m Completion: April 2015 Description This was Stage 2 of a project at OLSH Primary School, Darra. The project involved the demolition of existing Block B, and rebuilding a new three-storey building to include new classrooms and additional space for future expansion of the school’s library. One of the challenges to the project was that the main communications room for the site was located in the existing Block B. Various options were examined, with the final solution to relocate the comms room to a new permanent location in another part of the school. This included running a new lead-in as well as fibre links to the other buildings, and had to be carried out as an early-works package in a limited time frame over the school holidays, to minimise disruption. Lighting to the classroom utilises energy efficient linear LED extrusions to create the ambience and allow flexibility. The classrooms also integrated latest learning method technologies including collaborative areas with provision for data interconnectivity, audio-visual systems, and interactive teaching walls. The air conditioning utilised high-efficient VRF systems, which offer improved energy efficiency while the design of the systems also delivered on cost to the client.
