KURV Apartments
Electrical | Mechanical | Hydraulics | Fire Client: Cavcorp Architect: Orbit Architecture Value: $20m Completion: 2015 Description This mixed-use development in Newstead, Brisbane consists of six levels of apartments, two levels of commercial offices and three levels of basement car parks. The focus of the development was to create a visually striking building with an open look and feel, leading to an emphasis on concealment of building services. In keeping with the developer’s concept of an open feel for the commercial floors, air distribution was via lagged PVC pipework cast into the transfer slab. The major hydraulics challenges included designing the stormwater quality improvement devices to achieve the stringent DA conditions within the building constraints; and the design and co-ordination of services cast in the transfer slab. Highlight features of the electrical services consisted of motion detection controlled LED lighting throughout the commercial levels and NBN services provided to all areas.
