Laidley Sports Clubhouse & GrandstandElectrical | Mechanical | Hydraulic
Client: Lockyer Valley Regional Council Architect: MullArch Pty Ltd Value: $2m Completion: February 2015 Awards: Master Builders - Downs & Western Housing & Construction Awards 2015 Description This award-winning project involved construction of a new sports clubhouse and grandstand facility for use by various sporting clubs and community groups in the district. The building was situated alongside the existing sporting fields with main access from the street frontage side. Design of the building services needed to take into account the various uses of the building, the requirements of the council departments operating the building, as well as the variety in building occupants. All these demands required the services to be robust yet simple to understand and operate. The lighting design included a combination of high-efficiency fluorescent and LED fixtures to suit the various spaces. The air conditioning and ventilation systems were designed to enable systems to be shut down when not in use, so as to reduce energy usage. The kitchen hood design was restricted by limited roof space for ductwork, and noise and draught issues were addressed. The hydraulic services design included LPG cylinder storage and reticulation, and rainwater catchment and storage for use in irrigation of the sporting fields. A central hot water plant was installed to service the various demands of the building, including the fully-serviced kitchen, bar, public amenities, and canteen.
